Fitting Welders Required In New Zealand

Tasman PFV Ltd, based in Auckland, is seeking a skilled Welder-Fitter to join our workshop team. In this permanent, full-time role, you will fabricate, assemble, and weld metal parts and subassemblies for production machines and other equipment, ensuring precision and high-quality workmanship. This position offers 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with occasional Saturdays as needed, and a competitive hourly pay rate of $28–$35 per hour, depending on your skills and experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fit, assemble, and weld metal parts and subassemblies for production machines and equipment.
  • Read blueprints, drawings, and measurements to plan layouts and procedures accurately.
  • Select appropriate welding equipment and methods based on project requirements.
  • Set up components for welding according to specifications and operate manual or automated welding equipment.
  • Weld small and large components using relevant tools and techniques.
  • Assess welded surfaces and structures to identify errors, flaws, or required repairs.
  • Repair machinery and components by welding pieces and filling gaps.
  • Test and inspect welded surfaces and structures to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Follow and enforce strict safety protocols, including the use of heat-resistant gloves, protective masks, and safety footwear.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in welding or fabrication operations.
  • Relevant qualification or certificate is preferred.
  • Physically fit, with the ability to handle heavy lifting and manual tasks.
  • Punctual, reliable, and demonstrates a positive “can-do” attitude.
  • Willingness to learn, adapt, and contribute to continuous improvement.
  • Able to work under deadlines and schedules, including occasional weekends.
  • Must pass pre-employment medical and drug tests and have no criminal convictions.
  • NZ residency or valid NZ work visa is required.
