Key Responsibilities
As a TBM Operator-Supervisor, you will hold a key leadership role on the tunnelling crew with the following critical duties:
- Operate the Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM), maintaining precise line and grade control while steering the machine and operating the segment erector and grouting systems.
- Assist the M&E (Mechanical & Electrical) team with the assembly, disassembly, and maintenance of the TBM.
- Conduct regular inspections of the cutterhead and tools during the drive, assessing wear and planning for changes or maintenance.
- Take direct charge and make critical decisions during emergency situations within the TBM to ensure crew safety and machine integrity.
- Strictly supervise all tunnelling and cable works, ensuring compliance with all safety and engineering specifications.
- Proactively identify, communicate, and mitigate any safety hazards in the working environment.
- Provide direct supervision for work at height and in confined spaces associated with tunnelling operations.
Qualifications
This is a senior role with non-negotiable safety and experience requirements. Candidates must possess:
- A minimum of 5 years of direct supervision experience in MRT Tunnel and cable works and underground structures, either in Singapore or overseas.
- The following valid certifications are mandatory:
- Building Construction Supervisors Safety Course (BCSS)
- Building Construction Supervisors Safety Course – Tunnelling (BCSS-T)
- Work at Height Supervisor
- Supervise Work in Confined Space Operations
- Preference will be given to candidates with hands-on experience driving Herrenknecht, Kawasaki, or other major TBM brands.
- Proven ability to handle high-pressure situations, lead a team, and enforce strict safety protocols.
