Key Responsibilities

As Sous Chef, you will be the operational leader of the kitchen, responsible for daily excellence. Your key duties will include:

  • Overseeing all daily kitchen operations, ensuring the preparation of high-quality, visually appealing food that meets our standards.
  • Assisting in hiring, training, and leading Line Cooks and Dishwashers under the direction of the Director of Food & Beverage.
  • Managing kitchen labor and food costs, placing supply orders, and monitoring budget performance.
  • Conducting safety audits, facilitating monthly training, and ensuring full compliance with all health and safety regulations.
  • Guaranteeing correct plate presentation and quality before every dish leaves the kitchen.
  • Fostering a professional, efficient, and positive kitchen environment.

Qualifications

To thrive in this leadership role, you will need:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent; college or culinary training is preferred.
  • A Manager’s Food Handlers Permit (can be facilitated by Spectrum if needed).
  • Previous kitchen leadership or supervisory experience is highly preferred.
  • Strong self-motivation, professionalism, and the ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with team members, residents, and families.
  • A commitment to high standards, organization, and a customer-service oriented approach.
