Key Responsibilities

As a Utilities Technician on the B Shift (6:00 PM – 6:30 AM), you will be the guardian of our critical infrastructure. Your key duties will include:

  • Safely operating, monitoring, and maintaining all plant utility systems, including ammonia refrigeration, boilers, air compressors, HVAC, and water treatment.
  • Performing preventive and predictive maintenance to ensure maximum reliability and performance of utility equipment.
  • Troubleshooting and repairing complex mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation issues, with an emphasis on ammonia systems.
  • Conducting routine inspections and accurately recording operational data such as pressure, temperature, and chemical levels.
  • Ensuring strict compliance with all OSHA, EPA, PSM, RMP, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Responding promptly to equipment alarms and emergencies to minimize production impact.
  • Maintaining precise records for maintenance activities and regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to support operations and continuous improvement projects.

Qualifications

We are looking for a highly qualified technician with specific experience. The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent; technical or trade school certification is preferred.
  • A minimum of 2-4 years of hands-on experience in utilities, ammonia refrigeration, or industrial plant operations.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial ammonia refrigeration systems; familiarity with IIAR standards is a plus.
  • Experience with boilers, HVAC, compressors, and water treatment systems.
  • The ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and P&IDs.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills in mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
  • RETA certification or equivalent ammonia refrigeration training is strongly preferred.
  • The ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and adapt to a rotating shift schedule that includes nights, weekends, and overtime.
