We are looking for a Neon Pumping Technician to join our Neon Sign Production Department. No prior experience in neon work is required we provide full on-the-job training. You will work directly with our Department Supervisor to learn the processes involved in filling neon units with gases to achieve specific colours. Key Responsibilities

  • Work directly under the Department Supervisor to learn the complete neon tube processing cycle—from cleaning and evacuation to gas filling and tipping off.
  • Operate vacuum pumps, manifold systems, and related equipment to evacuate air and impurities from glass tubing prior to gas filling.
  • Measure and introduce precise amounts of noble gases (neon, argon, helium) and mercury into processed units to achieve specified colours and electrical characteristics.
  • Monitor pressure gauges and vacuum readings throughout the pumping process, ensuring consistent quality and performance.
  • Inspect completed units for proper gas fill, electrode seal integrity, and overall workmanship.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, including pumping stations, gas storage, and tooling.
  • Follow all safety protocols for handling compressed gases, high voltage testing, and glassware.
  • Communicate clearly with supervisors and production team members regarding work progress, material needs, and quality observations.
  • Participate in ongoing training to develop proficiency in neon processing techniques.
  • Perform other duties consistent with the role as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Regular attendance and punctuality our production schedule depends on reliable team members.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent communication skills.
  • Self-starter and motivated worker willing to learn and take ownership of your training.
  • Ability to merge well with our “low drama” family atmosphere.
  • No prior neon experience required full on-the-job training provided.

Preferred:

  • Mechanical aptitude or previous experience in a technical trade, laboratory, or production environment is an asset but not required.
  • Comfort with repetitive precision tasks and working with small components.
  • Ability to read gauges and follow written procedures.
