Maintenance Assistants Required In New Zealand

We’re looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Maintenance Assistant to join our team. In this hands-on role, you’ll work alongside experienced Maintenance Technicians, learning the ins and outs of equipment care, cleaning, and preventative maintenance. As you gain experience, you’ll develop the skills to identify potential issues before they cause downtime helping to keep our operations running safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist Maintenance Technicians with routine and preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Clean plant walls, paint booths, shop floors, and ovens (inside and out).
  • Perform heavy clean-up duties around machinery and equipment.
  • Empty dust collector barrels and ensure overall cleanliness of production areas.
  • Assist with painting fixtures and cleaning during maintenance projects.
  • Follow all safety and environmental standards to maintain a hazard-free workplace.
  • Work at heights using ladders, scissor lifts, or roof access when required.
  • Safely operate forklifts and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 100 lbs., climbing, crouching, and crawling as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or trade training preferred.
  • Experience using hand tools, power tools, and industrial cleaning equipment.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing job-related training.
  • Must meet the physical requirements of the position.
