We are hiring an On-Call (Casual) Laundry Aide for Marquise Hospitality at our Nepean location. This is an existing vacancy, and we are looking for someone with open availability to start on an on-call basis through mid-March. You will be responsible for performing laundry services sorting, washing, drying, folding, and distributing linens for residents and clients in a senior living environment. Key Responsibilities
- Properly sort, wash, and dry linens following approved laundry procedures, ensuring correct cycles, temperatures, and detergent usage for different fabric types.
- Fold, count, and stack clean linens neatly, maintaining accurate inventory of processed items.
- Collect soiled linens from designated areas and redistribute clean linens to resident rooms, common areas, and storage locations.
- Transport supplies, including clean and soiled linen carts, to appropriate storage and collection areas safely and efficiently.
- Routinely inspect linens for wear and tear, identifying worn, torn, or stained items and following Standard Operating Procedure for damaged linens.
- Maintain commercial and residential laundry rooms in a clean, orderly, and sanitary condition at all times.
- Operate laundry equipment such as commercial washing machines, dryers, linen presses, and clothing labelers safely and competently.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding supply needs, equipment concerns, or resident requests.
- Work independently with minimal supervision, managing time and tasks efficiently.
- Collaborate with the broader housekeeping and care teams to ensure a clean, comfortable environment for residents.
Qualifications
Experience:
- Experience in housekeeping and/or laundry, or an equivalent combination of training and experience, is an asset but not required.
- We value reliability, attention to detail, and a positive attitude training is provided.
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately and consistently.
- Effective communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
- Able to operate laundry equipment such as washing machines, dryers, linen presses, and clothing labelers (training provided).
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently or collaboratively in a team setting.
- Physically able to carry out the duties of the position, including standing for extended periods, lifting, bending, and manoeuvring laundry carts.
