Key Responsibilities

As the Electrician on board this bulk carrier, you will be responsible for the reliable operation of all electrical systems. Your primary duties will include:

  • Performing planned maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on all shipboard electrical equipment, including generators, motors, switchboards, and automation systems.
  • Maintaining and repairing cargo handling equipment, including the vessel’s three 36-ton deck cranes.
  • Ensuring the proper operation of navigation and communication systems’ electrical components.
  • Overseeing electrical systems related to the main engine (Hitachi-B and W 6S42MC), auxiliary boilers, and pumps.
  • Maintaining accurate logs and records of all maintenance work performed.
  • Working closely with other engineering officers and crew to ensure overall vessel safety and efficiency.

Qualifications

This role requires specific certifications, experience, and documentation.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Valid certifications as a Marine Electrician (STCW qualifications required).
  • A minimum of 2-3 years of proven experience as an Electrician on board merchant vessels, preferably bulk carriers or general cargo ships.
  • Fluent English communication skills are essential for working within a mixed crew where Russian is not the working language.
  • A valid Schengen visa or a Bio-Metric Passport is required for the scheduled crew change in the European Union.
  • Availability for the specified crew change date.
