Key Responsibilities
In this hands-on technical role, you will be essential to ensuring our locomotive fleet operates at peak performance. Your key duties will include:
- Performing maintenance, repairs, and testing on diesel-electric locomotives to the highest technical standards.
- Conducting detailed fault analysis on complex locomotive electrical and control systems to diagnose issues accurately.
- Implementing effective, cost-efficient corrective solutions based on sound engineering principles and failure analysis.
- Analysing fleet performance data to identify trends and contribute to continuous improvement in reliability.
- Sourcing required parts and materials and completing all associated job documentation thoroughly and accurately.
- Ensuring all work is performed in strict compliance with safety regulations, maintenance manuals, and company procedures.
- Providing on-call technical support as part of a roster to ensure ongoing fleet availability.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate:
- A current Australian Electrical Licence.
- Proven experience in a heavy industrial maintenance environment, such as diesel engines, power generation, or heavy machinery.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to read and apply technical drawings and schematics.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively both unsupervised and as part of a collaborative team.
- A current Driver’s Licence.
- A proactive, professional attitude with a strong commitment to workplace safety and a willingness to undertake further training.
Previous direct experience with locomotives or freight maintenance is highly desirable but not essential for the right candidate with transferable skills.
