Gallagher is seeking a skilled Die Setter to join our Hamilton Manufacturing team. In this hands-on role, you’ll be responsible for optimising and maintaining presses, moulds, and die-sets to ensure high-quality, reliable production. You will play a key part in set-ups, changeovers, and troubleshooting, directly contributing to operational efficiency, product quality, and cost-effectiveness. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform safe and precise tool changes and machine start-ups in line with production schedules.
  • Ensure products consistently meet or exceed quality standards, assisting with resolution of any product issues.
  • Troubleshoot dies, presses, and machines to resolve operational challenges quickly and effectively.
  • Support Lean and SMED initiatives to reduce waste and optimise change-over times.
  • Plan work effectively, manage time efficiently, and adapt to shift requirements as needed.
  • Maintain high standards of safety, housekeeping (6S), and teamwork within the manufacturing environment.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and problem-solving initiatives across the Plastics Operations team.

Qualifications

  • Trade qualification in Die Setting, Plastics Engineering, mechanical trade, fitter-welder, or equivalent tooling experience.
  • Certification such as PAMPITO, Trade Certificate in Plastics Engineering, or relevant mechanical trade.
  • Proven experience in injection moulding or extrusion, with die-setting responsibilities preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing and SMED principles.
  • Strong planning, communication, and time management skills.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment.

Salary

NZD $60,000 – $75,000
