Key Responsibilities

As a key member of our Seafood Department, you will handle a variety of essential tasks to maintain our high standards:

  • Preparing and cutting a variety of fish and seafood for sale and for sashimi platters.
  • Handling food preparation tasks such as making poke bowls, cutting vegetables, and packaging products.
  • Ensuring all seafood is properly stocked, rotated, and merchandised attractively to maintain freshness and quality.
  • Operating department equipment like scales, wrappers, knives, pallet jacks, and cleaning machinery.
  • Providing premier customer service by greeting shoppers, answering questions, and engaging in suggestive selling.
  • Maintaining strict cleanliness and sanitation standards in all work and storage areas, including frequent cleaning and sanitizing.
  • Unpacking deliveries, stocking items, and ensuring the sales floor is well-organized and inviting.
  • Being a team player open to cross-training and assisting in other departments as needed.

Qualifications

We are looking for reliable individuals who are comfortable in a kitchen environment. The ideal candidate will have:

  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Must be at least 18 years old to operate equipment and handle sharp knives.
  • The ability to obtain a CA Food Handler’s Certificate.
  • Comfort using job-related equipment (knives, scales, slicers, pallet jacks).
  • Strong customer service skills with a friendly and courteous demeanor.
  • The physical ability to lift up to 20 pounds unaided and work in an environment with frequent hand contact with water and food.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
  • Prior experience as a seafood clerk, fish cutter, or in a similar role is preferred but not required—we are willing to train motivated individuals.
