This is a hands-on role working with garments and other articles—operating machines to join sections, cut fabric to specifications, and ensure finished products meet quality standards. If you have 2 to 3 years of experience in this field, you’re comfortable working on a piece-work or production basis, and you have your high school graduation certificate or equivalent experience, this could be a solid fit. What You’ll Be Doing
- Operating sewing machines: You’ll run machines to join sections of garments or other articles into finished products on a piece-work or production basis.
- Cutting fabric to specifications: You’ll measure and cut fabric or layers of fabric according to job requirements.
- Performing minor repairs and adjustments: You’ll handle basic fixes and adjustments to equipment to keep production running smoothly.
- Using sewing guides and tension devices: You’ll work with guides and tension controls to ensure consistent, quality stitching.
- Performing preventive maintenance: You’ll help keep machines in good working order through regular maintenance tasks.
- Maintaining quality standards: You’ll check your work to make sure finished products meet specifications.
- Following safety protocols: You’ll adhere to all safety guidelines and keep your work area clean and organized.
What You’ll Need
- Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience.
- 2 to 3 years of experience operating sewing machines in a production environment.
- Experience working on a piece-work or production basis meeting output targets while maintaining quality.
- Ability to cut fabric to specifications accurately.
- Skill in using sewing guides and tension devices for consistent results.
- Ability to perform minor repairs and adjustments to equipment.
