Key Responsibilities
- Provide best in class guest service by promptly greeting guests, responding to questions and concerns quickly and courteously, and assisting with their video gaming needs.
- Inform guests of special promotions, recommend additional items as appropriate, and apply all selling behaviors during every transaction, thanking each guest for shopping at GameStop.
- Support the total shopping environment including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business.
- Process guest purchases and returns accurately using the Point of Sale computer system, including making correct changes and ensuring top notch guest service.
- Respond to guest comments or questions in person or on the phone using the prescribed phone greeting, escalating issues to the Store Manager when appropriate.
- Promote GameStop’s unique guest benefits including the new title reservations program, trade in program, and Pro Rewards guest loyalty program.
- Assist the Store Manager with setting guest service expectations, training store associates, and ensuring all team members are aligned with company policies and practices.
- Observe associate performance, provide timely feedback, and address unsatisfactory performance as directed, supporting the Store Manager in maintaining high standards.
- Schedule store associates following guidelines, ensuring optimum guest service and compliance with break and meal requirements.
- Approve payroll, enter paid time off, and verify that store associates are paid for all time worked.
- Ensure all areas of the store are clean, organized, and merchandised per company guidelines, and that all store fixtures and equipment are in proper working order.
- Fulfill and ship Omni Channel orders daily and protect company assets through effective inventory control and loss prevention practices.
- Support the store team in meeting and exceeding sales, profit, and shrink goals, and complete required administrative and operational duties.
- Count, balance, and reconcile daily business transaction totals accurately, ensuring all closeout paperwork and bank deposits are completed correctly.
- Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager.
Qualifications
Candidates must be at least 18 years old and provide proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States. A high school diploma or equivalent is required; an associate’s or bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in business, marketing, merchandising, or a related field is preferred. At least six months of retail management experience is preferred, along with two years of retail sales, guest service, or management experience. Video game knowledge is preferred. Candidates must possess an outgoing and welcoming personality with strong people skills and demonstrate clear verbal and written communication in English; bilingual English and Spanish skills are preferred. The ability to work independently and within a team, meet performance expectations, and work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and some holidays is required. Physical requirements include standing and moving throughout the store for up to 12 hours, bending, stooping, climbing ladders, and lifting merchandise weighing up to 30 pounds.
