About the Company
Oropi Management Services Ltd is a family owned and operated kiwifruit management company based in Oropi, Tauranga. Since 2007, they have built a strong reputation for providing reliable orchard services and creating a great working environment. The team culture is friendly and social. They host plenty of staff dinners, BBQs, social gatherings, and team events throughout the season. For seasonal workers who want to earn well and be part of a great crew, this is a top choice.
What You Will Do Every Day
You will walk through kiwifruit orchards, spotting ripe fruit ready for picking. You will harvest each piece by hand, placing fruit gently into a picking bag worn across your shoulders. You will work efficiently because your pay is based on how many bins you fill. You will empty your bag into large orchard bins, taking care not to bruise the fruit. You will follow quality standards, removing any fruit that is too small or damaged. You will use ladders where needed to reach higher vines. You will work outdoors in all sorts of weather, from sunny mornings to cool cloudy afternoons. You will coordinate with other pickers to cover rows without missing any fruit. You will also help move empty bins and clear fallen fruit from the ground. At the end of each day, you will check your bin count. The work is physical, repetitive, and satisfying. Your earnings grow with every bin.

What We Are Looking For
You must have NZ citizenship or a valid NZ work visa. You also need an IRD number and a New Zealand bank account. The role requires physical fitness and motivation to work outdoors all day, bending, reaching, and carrying weight. Your height should be approximately 160 to 190 centimetres to comfortably work under kiwifruit vines without stooping or hitting your head. You must have access to a vehicle to get to the orchards. No previous experience is necessary, but you need to be reliable, hardworking, and keen to earn good money as part of a team. A positive attitude and willingness to learn are essential. No degree is required.
Pay and Benefits
The pay is piece rate, between 27.10 a 27.1032.40 per bin depending on bin size and variety. Most pickers fill multiple bins each day, so hourly earnings are strong. Free freedom camping is available for workers, including toilets, showers, and cooking facilities. Bucket and bin rate bonuses are offered. The social club and staff events including dinners and BBQs make the season enjoyable. You will work outdoors in the beautiful Bay of Plenty. The harvest season runs for a limited time.
