About the Company

This family friendly packhouse is located in Aongatete, a quiet rural area in the Bay of Plenty, close to Katikati. The company specialises in post harvest handling of kiwifruit, working with local growers to prepare fruit for export. The culture is welcoming and energetic, with a focus on teamwork and getting the job done efficiently. Seasonal workers return year after year because the environment is supportive and the work is steady. For backpackers or locals seeking indoor seasonal work, this is a great option.

What You Will Do Every Day

Depending on your role, your daily tasks will vary. Graders will stand at the conveyor belt, sorting kiwifruit by size, colour, and quality. You will remove any fruit that is damaged, misshapen, or does not meet export standards. Tray preparation staff will assemble cardboard trays and liners, ensuring a steady supply to the packing line. Packers will place graded fruit into trays quickly and carefully, following customer specifications for count and arrangement. Stackers will lift filled trays onto pallets, stacking them in stable columns, and wrapping pallets for transport. All roles require standing for long hours, using your hands constantly, and maintaining focus despite repetition. You will work in a temperature controlled environment, which is a relief on hot summer days. You will follow strict food safety and hygiene rules, including washing hands, wearing hair nets and gloves, and keeping your workstation clean. You will work six days per week, with long shifts up to twelve hours during peak season. The work is physical but indoors, and the team energy makes the day pass quickly.
