Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with designers to understand design concepts, discuss construction details, and translate creative visions into technically sound patterns.
- Develop patterns using both hand drawing techniques and computer aided pattern making software, with proficiency in three dimensional draping as needed.
- Create patterns for woven and knit garments, perform marker making, estimate fabric yardage requirements, and complete subsequent revisions as needed.
- Use computer software to delineate garment outlines and details, indicating pleats, buttonholes, and other functional features with precision.
- Complete detailed technical specification sheets including materials, colors, measurements, handling instructions, and required pattern details.
- Combine knowledge of pattern making, cutting, sewing, and embellishment processes to resolve construction challenges encountered during pattern and sample development.
- Manage the garment sample production process, communicating effectively with sample makers and manufacturing partners to ensure samples are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management to support the overall production workflow.
Qualifications
A background in fashion design, pattern making, garment technology, or a related field is valued. Proven experience in pattern making for both woven and knit garments is essential. Proficiency in computer aided pattern making software is required. Strong understanding of garment construction, grading, and marker making is essential.
