What You Will Be Doing
- Proficiently operate three or more types of heavy equipment such as scrapers, backhoes, trackhoes, dozers, excavators, loaders, rock trucks, compactors, articulated trucks, crushers, and/or motor graders with or without GPS to prepare job sites to meet required grades.
- Fasten attachments to tractors with clevis or wedge pin hitches; connect hydraulic hoses, belts, mechanical linkage, or power takeoff shafts.
- Move levers to control tool bars, carriers, and disks; move hand and foot levers to control hydraulic shovels.
- Dig trenches and holes of specified length, depth, and width; remove loosened material and place in piles or transport trucks.
- Maneuver equipment and raise, lower, and tilt attachments to clear rights-of-way.
- Feel levers and listen for engine stalling to estimate depth of cut.
- Drive bulldozers in successive passes to raise or lower terrain to specified grades following stakes or hand signals.
- Construct and grade new roadways, base courses, building pads, footing excavations, and water ponds; properly slope and grade to specifications.
- Load, move, level, and grade dirt, rocks, demoed concrete, and other materials safely and efficiently in a high-paced environment to maintain production goals.
- Maintain initiative to keep work flowing under minimal supervision.
- Perform demolition of bridges and other structures with excavators and hydraulic hoe rams as needed.
- Operate equipment within a Pipe Crew environment such as excavators or loaders.
- Perform general housekeeping, light maintenance, and proper care of equipment; conduct daily maintenance checks and report usage/utilization hours.
- Work with GPS installed devices on dozers and motor graders as required.
- Learn, follow, and promote all safety standards of Ralph L. Wadsworth and its projects.
- Work weekends, holidays, and overtime as project needs require.
- Perform laborer work as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.
What We Are Looking For
- Minimum of 4 years of Heavy Equipment Operating Experience with multiple types of equipment or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Willingness to do laborer work as needed.
- Ability to work safely under pressure with time constraints in a changing environment.
- Frequent gross body movements such as bending, climbing into equipment, lifting up to 75lbs, twisting, standing, balancing, stooping, handling materials, and moving around hazardous sites.
- Good eye-to-hand coordination and depth perception required.
- High School diploma/GED preferred.
- Flexible availability to include overtime and possible weekends and nights.
- Valid Driver’s License.
