We are looking for a Laundry Equipment Operator I to join our Environmental Services team. Under the direction of the Manager or Supervisor, you will assist in all aspects of laundry services collecting, sorting, washing, drying, folding, and transporting linen and clothing in accordance with established standards, procedures, and infection control guidelines. You will also assist in training staff and students, conduct daily inspections, and ensure all equipment is clean and operating efficiently. If you have at least a Grade 9 education (Manitoba Standards), proficiency with Microsoft programs, and the organizational skills to work independently while maintaining quality and consistency, this role offers stable, meaningful work in a professional healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities
Laundry Operations
- Perform all duties related to the collection, sorting, washing, drying, folding, and transportation of linen and clothing in accordance with established standards, procedures, and infection control guidelines.
- Weigh and record all soiled linen prior to sorting, maintaining accurate documentation.
- Operate all washing and drying equipment safely and efficiently, following manufacturer instructions and departmental procedures.
- Perform titration and pH checks as required to ensure proper chemical concentrations and water quality.
- Clean and process laundry and linen to meet established quality and hygiene standards.
- May be required to make minor repairs to laundry and linen as needed.
- Distribute clean laundry and linen to appropriate departments, units, and resident rooms.
Cleaning and Maintenance
- Perform duties of washing, mopping, waxing, vacuuming, polishing, and dusting in assigned areas using appropriate equipment and products.
- Collect waste and wash waste receptacles in accordance with established procedures.
- Ensure all equipment is clean, well-maintained, and operating efficiently; report any malfunctions or maintenance needs promptly.
- Conduct daily tours of areas of responsibility prior to the end of shift, inspecting each area for cleanliness and addressing any deficiencies.
- Prioritize and complete extra cleaning duties within established timeframes and in accordance with the current cleaning schedule.
Qualifications
Education:
- Grade 9 education (Manitoba Standards) is required.
- Other combinations of suitable education and experience may be considered.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency with Microsoft programs, including Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
- Proficiency with Internet applications and other Information Technology tools.
- Ability to operate commercial laundry equipment, cleaning machinery, and related tools.
