Key Responsibilities

As a Leading Hand, you will be the on-ground leader ensuring the safe and efficient execution of drill and blast operations. Your core duties will include:

Leading and supervising drill and blast crews on a daily basis, providing clear direction and on-the-job mentoring.
Ensuring all drilling, charging, stemming, and firing activities strictly comply with site-specific procedures and safety standards.
Coordinating drilling patterns and blasting activities in liaison with Site Managers and Supervisors.
Conducting pre-start meetings and toolbox talks to reinforce safety and operational goals.
Monitoring crew productivity, assisting with planning, and identifying opportunities for improvement.
Ensuring all required reporting, documentation, and site statistics are completed accurately and on time.

Qualifications

To be successful in this hands-on leadership role, you will need:

Essential Experience: Proven experience in drill and blast operations within the mining industry and previous experience as a Leading Hand on a mine site.
Essential Credentials: A valid Driver’s Licence and a current S26 Supervisor Qualification (or willingness to obtain one).
Essential Attributes: A strong, demonstrable safety focus and excellent leadership and communication skills.
Highly Desired: Dyno Digishot Certification and RIO Tinto site induction.
Mindset: A proactive, responsible approach and the ability to thrive in a FIFO environment.
