Key Responsibilities

As a Clinical Support Worker, you will be a hands-on partner in client care, providing essential support across clinical and primary care functions within the MHSU program.

  • Provide direct client support, including intake duties, supportive counseling, and facilitating individual and group workshops to develop life skills related to wellness, substance use, and relapse prevention.
  • Monitor client safety and well-being, observing for changes in physical or psychological status, responding to crisis situations appropriately, and administering medications according to established policies and care plans.
  • Assist with primary care support by taking and recording vital signs, setting up for clinical exams, arranging tests, and completing necessary documentation and client records.
  • Work collaboratively with clients using a strengths-based, trauma-informed approach, and motivational interviewing techniques to support their treatment goals and recovery journey.
  • Act as a resource for clients, providing information on community services and assisting with referrals to medical, housing, and other essential supports.

Qualifications

We are looking for individuals with relevant education and a genuine desire to support individuals with mental health and substance use challenges.

  • Completion of Grade 12, plus a recognized Substance Use Certificate or Social Service Worker program.
  • One year of recent related experience working in the addictions field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • A valid Standard First Aid – CPR C with automated external defibrillator (AED) certificate.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of addiction and related issues, with strong abilities in observation, crisis intervention, conflict resolution, and establishing rapport with clients.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and teamwork skills, along with the physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
