About the Role And Impact

In this hands-on technical role, you will be integral to the deployment and integrity of network connectivity. You will work on the front lines of data centre operations, installing, testing, and troubleshooting the cabling that powers modern digital services. Collaboration with network engineers and project managers is key, ensuring our infrastructure meets the highest standards for performance, organisation, and scalability in a fast-paced industry.

Your Key Responsibilities

Your expertise will be applied to a range of critical tasks ensuring optimal infrastructure performance:

• Installing, terminating, and certifying both copper (Cat5e-Cat6-Cat6a) and fibre optic cabling (single-mode and multi-mode) in data centre and office settings.
• Applying comprehensive fibre optic knowledge, including work with pre-terminated MPO plug-and-play systems, conventional, and ribbon fibre.
• Precisely labelling and documenting all cabling installations in accordance with TIA/EIA, BICSI, and company standards.
• Troubleshooting and repairing cabling faults, using advanced tools like OTDR, OLTS, and cable certifiers to diagnose and resolve connectivity issues.
• Executing cable routing, dressing, and patching to maintain an exceptionally organised and efficient data centre environment.
• Performing equipment Moves, Adds, and Changes (MACs) and supporting infrastructure projects as required.
• Maintaining accurate as-built records, diagrams, and cable infrastructure documentation.
• Strictly adhering to all safety protocols while working in high-density server environments, confined spaces, or at heights.

The Skills And Experience You Bring

To excel in this position, you will need a solid foundation of technical skills and practical experience:

• Proven, hands-on experience in structured cabling installation within data centre or critical office environments.
• In-depth familiarity with fibre optic and copper cabling standards (TIA/EIA, BICSI, ANSI).
• Proficiency with cable testing and certification tools (e.g., Fluke DSX/ Versiv, OTDR, OLTS).
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and network schematics.
• Strong knowledge of cable management best practices using trays, conduit, and raceways.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills with a keen attention to detail and a commitment to a clean, organised workspace.
• Physical ability to lift heavy equipment and work in the demanding conditions of a data centre.
• Flexibility to work varied hours, including nights and weekends, based on project demands.
• Fluency in English (both spoken and written) is required.

Preferred qualifications include BICSI certification (Installer-Technician) and experience with data centre operations or network hardware.
