Key Responsibilities
As a Concrete Mixer Driver, you are responsible for the complete delivery process from plant to site. Your key duties will include:
- Conducting thorough daily vehicle inspections in compliance with DOT and company safety standards.
- Safely operating a manual transmission mixer truck to transport concrete, typically within a 20-mile radius.
- Navigating job sites and maneuvering trucks on uneven ground to position for accurate pours.
- Setting up, adjusting, and cleaning delivery chutes, which involves significant physical handling.
- Adding specific ingredients to the mix as required and washing down the truck after each delivery.
- Maintaining clear, professional communication with dispatchers and customers via two-way radio.
- Completing all delivery tickets and paperwork accurately and on time.
Qualifications
To ensure safety and professionalism in this demanding role, all candidates must meet these requirements:
- A valid Class B CDL with an air brake endorsement and a current DOT medical card.
- The ability to pass a DOT drug screen and maintain a clean driving record per company and regulatory standards.
- Physical capability for strenuous activity: climbing in/out of the cab ~50 times daily, lifting chutes (up to 50 lbs), and handling bags of ingredients (9-24 lbs).
- Strong defensive driving skills and experience operating a manual transmission vehicle.
- Excellent customer service skills and the ability to remain diplomatic in stressful, on-site situations.
- Basic math and English language skills (reading, writing, speaking).
