Your Role in Agricultural Research
Reporting to the Product Development Agronomist, you will be instrumental in executing high-quality field trials. Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with all phases of small plot trial execution, from preparation (seed counting, stickering) to seeding, maintenance, and harvesting.
- Accurately collecting, measuring, and recording both qualitative and quantitative data from field trials.
- Operating small plot research equipment and various hand tools for harvesting and sample collection.
- Performing field maintenance tasks such as hand-weeding, hoeing, and rouging to ensure trial integrity.
- Operating lab equipment (scales, seed counters, NIR machines) for sample processing in the warehouse.
- Completing precise data entry, reporting, and communication using computers and standard software.
- Traveling frequently (approximately 50% of the time) to various research site locations, using your own reliable transportation.
Qualifications
We are looking for a candidate who combines foundational education with a proactive, hands-on mindset.
Minimum Qualifications:
- At least 1 year of completed coursework towards a Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Plant Science, Botany, or a closely related field.
- A valid Class 5 driver’s license and reliable personal transportation to reach the site facility and travel to field locations.
- Previous experience with small plot field trials or a farm background is a strong asset.
