We are a 298-acre sustainably managed family farm located between Bethany and Janetville, Ontario, specializing in award-winning honey, maple syrup, and garlic. Your Role and Responsibilities
Your work will be diverse, reflecting the rhythms of our farm year. Key responsibilities will include:
- Conducting hive inspections, assisting with queen breeding, building equipment, harvesting honey, and processing–packaging products.
- Participating in all stages of garlic cultivation, harvest, processing, and packaging.
- Maintaining and installing sap lines, producing and packaging maple products, and cutting–splitting firewood.
- Controlling invasive species, assisting with sustainable forest management, tree planting, and general land care.
- Maintaining and repairing equipment and buildings, groundskeeping, and assisting with sales-marketing initiatives.
- Helping with field trials, taking measurements, and collecting data to inform farm practices.
- Exercising strong judgment regarding on-farm risks and undertaking special projects during the off-season to develop skills and contribute to farm improvements.
Who You Are
We are looking for a thoughtful, proactive individual who sees this as more than a job. The ideal candidate will possess:
- A serious, long-term interest in sustainable farming as a career path.
- The ability to work independently with strong initiative, especially during quieter seasons.
- Excellent judgment, a keen eye for safety, and a meticulous attention to detail.
- Physical stamina and comfort with demanding, varied work in all weather conditions (must be comfortable with occasional bee stings).
- A willingness to learn complex, hands-on skills. Previous experience in beekeeping, maple syrup production, carpentry, or mechanics is a significant asset.
- A minimum G2 driver’s license. The ability to operate a tractor or farm truck and chainsaw safety training are strong advantages.
- Flexibility to work variable hours, including some weekends during peak seasons like the maple syrup run.
What We Offer
