Key Responsibilities

As a Pipe Jacking Machine Operator, you will be the key technician responsible for the core tunnelling operation. Your duties will include:

• Safely and efficiently operating pipe jacking machines for underground sewer and utility tunnelling projects.
• Precisely monitoring and controlling jacking pressures, machine alignment, and performance using laser and gyro guidance systems.
• Performing routine inspections, basic maintenance, and troubleshooting of electronic, electrical (PLC), and mechanical systems on site.
• Collaborating closely with site engineers and ground crews to maintain exact line, level, and project specifications.
• Strictly adhering to and enforcing all site safety protocols and environmental procedures.
• Accurately recording daily progress, machine operational data, and any issues encountered.
• Assisting with the setup and demobilization of jacking pits and all related support systems.
• Being fully willing to work required overtime, night shifts, Sundays, and public holidays to meet project milestones.

Qualifications

This role requires a candidate with specialized, hands-on expertise. The mandatory requirements are:

• Proven experience operating pipe jacking machinery on live projects.
• Specific hands-on experience with HERRENKNECHT pipe jacking machines is highly required.
• Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics.
• Proficiency in operating laser and gyro guidance systems for precision alignment.
• Experience in PLC troubleshooting for machine control systems.
